And I Think To Myself ... What a Wonderful World

HELLO ALL MY WONDERFUL READERS!!!!!

I've missed you all and your sweet comments. Sorry I haven't posted much lately!!!!

I am on cloud 9 right which is a wonderful thing compared to the depressed mood I was in all last week. So many amazing things are happening in my life and I want to share them with you :)

Informal

First, last night was my sorority's informal and although there were some major bumps in the road, I had the MOST AMAZING night. Thanks to Ann for letting me borrow her dress--I LOVED IT--and thanks to all my girls for a wonderful dinner. The biggest thanks goes to Max for being an amazing dance partner, a perfect date, and for laying on the floor and taking care of me when I ate my weight in Topo. You mean so much to me.

Here's some cute pics me and that loser took:

Lastly, shout out to our President, Christina. I hope she had an amazing 21st--she looked gorgeous! And also to Julie, Nathan was adorable. I approve.

Thanksgiving

Next, I am so happy that this week is Thanksgiving Break! So much yummy food!!!!! And no school work. This is what I have to look forward to:

From a few years ago

I can't wait to see my family and eat all that yummy food! But, don't forget to remember the reason why we have Thanksgiving and actually give thanks for everything you have in your life and think about those that aren't as fortunate as you.

Dribble dribble, shoot shoot

WOOOOOO HOOOOOOO!!!! UNC Basketball is finally here. Let's all hope that this season, we will have started on a ship, and end with a championship.

Twitter

If you live at UNC you HAVE to follow @uncproblems_
Everything she tweets is how I feel about everything on campus. Most of them make me laugh soooo hard.

Yummy in my Tummy

These things are honestly addicting. I love them #guiltypleasure

Breaking Dawn

Utterly disturbing and awkward at some parts, but I loveeeeeeeed it!!!! Go see it NOW if you're a Twilight fan.

Save the best for last...

I FINALLY GET TO SEE THESE TWO LOSERS NEXT WEEK

Sissy and Scott, you better get ready to have LOADS of fun :)

Alright guys, well it's time for me to start on that 5 page paper, that's due tomorrow, on a book that I didn't have enough time to read #uncprobz

If you go to UNC, study hard these next two days and enjoy your break; if you go to another college, I hope your break is fun-filled and relaxing; if you're out of college, I hope you have a great Thanksgiving and get to spend plenty of time with your family!

Love y'all,
-Alexa Dorian

My Babies

Hey y'all

I'm taking a break from depression and studying (or the lack of) to give some recognition to people in my life that are making me really happy these days.

I'm sorry for the week of sentimental posts, I promise I'll have some make up tutorials and College Knowledge and some cute things I've found lately being posted soon! Especially since Thanksgiving Break is less than a week away :) yayayay!

If you aren't on this list, don't take offense at all. These are just people that this past week have helped cheer me up!

Okay so here they are:

FIRST AND FOREMOST: Max

This boy is so amazing compared to every other guy I've talked to. We never fight, he is always there for me, he genuinely cares if I'm happy, and he doesn't try to impress anyone. He always makes me laugh and I get the WORST butterflies right before I see him (literally sometimes I feel like I'm gonna throw up).

The things I love about him the most are that he's super funny, he's really tall, he's amazing at pitching (he plays baseball for UNCG), he has sweet dance skills, and most of all, his smile.

With guys, I usually always rush things and get too serious which ends up pushing them away and freaking them out. However, I really am happy just taking things slow with Max, and I try to do anything and everything to keep him in my life. I love things the way they are and I'm so grateful for the way he treats me and how much happiness he brings into my life.

Thanks for putting up with my weirdness baby and always laughing off those drunk phone calls. You've really made me so much happier this week.

Roma

HAHAHAHA love that these are some of the only good pictures of us! I've know this girl since 6th grade and she is one of the sweetest things in the world and I'm so lucky I can be with her again at Chapel Hill.

She is my momma away from home and will always find time to get me food or tuck me in or listen to my problems before doing anything else.

Her laugh and sweetness brighten my day and she always finds a way to make me feel better. She's the only lame-o I know that would adopt a baby before an animal and genuinely enjoys texting my mom. She's a great person inside and out and I hope she'll realize that one day and stop letting dumb boys bring her down.

LOVE YOU BABY!

Nicki Hodgins

Hahaha sorry for the super sexy picture on the right Nicki, I couldn't resist.

MEEEEF This girl is seriously one of the only people that understands me, besides my family and Ann. She understands my weirdness to a T and she knows that whatever I do, I do with good intentions, whether others see that or not.

SHE IS AN AMAZING SINGER! and I always tell my new friends at college about her because I am 100% she'll be a famous opera singer one day (she's at Johns Hopkins/Peabody for voice)

My 3 years in chorus with her were some of the best years of my life and I'm so lucky that senior year I had her by my side. I'm sorry I never believed you baby, and thanks for always finding time to Skype me and cheer me up! I LOVE YOU MEEEEEFFFFFFFFF

Here's Nicki singing the Aria from Queen of the Night. Mind you, she was 17 in this video. SHE'S AMAZING

My ADPi Group

This is for Dree, Alex, Sabrina, Anna, Megan, and Nikki!

I love you all so much. You are the friends in college that I always hoped I would have. You are all beautiful on the inside and out and so outgoing and funny. I am so happy that I met you all through ADPi and that we'll be together the next 3 years.

Thanks for all the crazy nights, the fatty moments, and the shopaholic moments--and all the ones that will come!

I genuinely love you all!

Allie

You were my best friend senior year and I wish we could've gotten closer way before that!

You're so gorgeous and I love your family and Sadie so much! You're hilarious and I'll never forget all those memories we made senior year and all those dumb fights we had.

I love youuuuu and I hope you're having an amazing time at Tennessee. Thanks for always checking up on me to see how I'm doing and finding ways to make me smile!

You'll always be the tenor to my lead.

Kev

UMMMM you're my best friend. No doubts. You're always there for me and always know exactly what to say to make me feel better.

I'm sorry that I thought you were obnoxious and annoying when I first saw you, but I promise all of that has changed.

You're an amazing person and don't ever let anyone tell you different. What's in the heart is more important than anything else.

I LOVE YOU KEV!

Greg

Sorry that these are the only pictures we have together but that's kind of your fault!

I'm so lucky I met you here at Carolina and you better still hang with me next semester. You're hilarious and a genuinely sweet and caring guy.

You always make me feel better. Thanks for sitting there and listening when I go on tangents about how I have a pimple then switch to my complete list of skin problems senior year.

Ayo boy, you'll always be my homie so stay tight with me, ya hear?
Who else would I smang it with???!?!?!

So yeaa, those were just a few little shout outs for all the people that needed thanking this week! I really do love you all so much.

I hope you all are having a great week, and don't worry, its hump day, so the weekend is just 2 short days away!

Love,
-Alexa Dorian

Daddy

Hey guys

I am not really going to post much this week due to a lot of stress and work. Also, this is usually the most difficult week of the year because it contains the anniversary of losing someone very special to me.

My sister and I lost our dad and our best friend 3 years ago this November 16th. I can promise you that loss does not get easier with time. In fact, it's hard to realize that he missed so many important moments of my life: my graduation, my 18th birthday, my acceptance into Carolina, and so much more.

I'm not going to sit here and write a depressing post, because 1) i'm sitting in a library and I don't want to bawl my eyes out in front of all these people and 2) my dad was such a happy person and he'd think that was dumb.

I just wanted to share with you a basic picture of who he was, why I loved him so much, and what losing him has taught me--because I promise you will take something from it.

Dance Marathon

Hey y'all!

This is a more serious post about something that I have become involved with. Next year in February, I will dance/stand for 24 hours in order to support N.C. Children's Hospitals. I've been really wanting to get involved with all the wonderful charities and organizations that UNC has to offer.

Here is some info about it:

"In the simplest terms, The UNC Dance Marathon is the largest
                                         student-run nonprofit organization at UNC-Chapel Hill. UNC-DM
works year-round to raise money to benefit the patients and
families of N.C. Children's Hospital through grants. Our fundraising
efforts culminate in a 24-hour celebration where hundreds of UNC-
CH students show their support for the paitents and families by
standing on their feet for the entire event. In 2011, UNC-DM
raised $436,709.61, funding two ongoing grants and eight divisional
                                                                    grants at the hospital."

In order to fulfill the requirements for this event, I have to raise $150. I think it would be so amazing if I raised way more than that though.

I know the holiday season is coming up and it's easy to pass things by when they don't affect you firsthand, but wouldn't you feel so good if you could say you donated at least $1 to this organization? That's literally all I'm asking for, at least $1!

I hope you all will help me. It really is a beautiful thing when people find the time to be selfless and give to those who truly need this money.

This is the website to donate: click here

Thanks for your help to all those who give money!

People in My Life: Ann

Good afternoon y'all :)

I'm having SUCH an amazing day! Have y'all ever gone to bed early the night before, gotten plenty of rest, and your energy completely controls your day?

I had Chick-Fil-A breakfast, watched a movie in my first class, my mom brought me all this food, two old friends randomly chatted me, I got a 90 on my Geography 121 essay, I cleaned my entire room and changed out my summer and winter clothes, and tonight is ADPi's Spaghetti Dinner to raise money for the Ronald McDonald House.

AHHHH today is good.

Getting to the purpose of this post, I've been waiting to do this one for awhile! I want to introduce you guys to someone that can constantly been mentioned, and means the world to me. This is my best friend, Ann:

College Knowledge/Weekend Update/Happy Birthday

Hey y'all!

I hope you all had a relaxing and fun weekend! Or at least got to try that amazing sandwich I suggested from Panera.

This post is kind of going to be a mix up of what happened this weekend, my College Knowledge for the week, and a few shout outs! ****Make sure you read the end****

Friday, I had an amazing dinner with a good friend at Banditos on Franklin Street, and was so inspired and impressed by this guy. It goes to show that life troubles should never limit where you go in life.

I went to UNCG later on that night to be with Max, and we ended up staying in, watching a movie, and just talking! One of the best nights I've had in awhile. In the morning, I slept in while he left to do a group project, and when he came back I had gotten us Bojangles and we watched the NC State vs. UNC game. A couple things to say:1) Time flies by too fast when I'm with that boy, I miss him already 2) I still love my Tarheels, even though that game was a total let down 3) Bojangles = <3

I left Greensboro and drove home to be with my parents for awhile which is always a good time! I loved seeing my momma and catching up with her and laughing. In the evening, I went back to Chapel Hill and had a girl's night with Ann, which included: face masks, cheese pizza, chocolate molten lava cakes, The Holiday, cuddling on the couch in comfy clothes, catching up on our weeks, and Jude Law. Absolutely perfect night!

This weekend was amazing :) Here's some College Knowledge for ya:

School:

1. Space it out: Don't cram for a test in two days! That's all I've been doing and it's obviously not working for me. By spacing out how long you study, you'll actually learn the material and not just memorize it.
2. Weekend doesn't always equal partying: Don't always use the spare 48 hours of the weekend to party, sleep, and hang with friends. Using even just a few of those hours to get some school work done or catch up on work will lower your stress and put you ahead of the game for the week.

College:

1. Guy friends: Make sure you have at least one really good guy friend in college that you can go to about anything. Especially for times when you are locked out of your room, it's Halloween, and you need a place to sleep.
2. Parallel parking: It is almost guaranteed you'll have to parallel park in college at one point. Learn how to do it. Even if you have to teach yourself--like me.

Boys:

1. There is nothing better...: .... than laying in all bed with the guy you like.
2. Balance: Don't always just go out and party or get drunk with the guy you like. Stay in and watch a movie or JUST TALK. I promise, if you really like this guy, it'll just as/even more fun than a party.

Family:

1. Opportunity: Anytime you have a chance to see your family, use it.
2. Oh, hello: It is extremely nerve racking meeting your boyfriend's parents. But coming from the Queen of Awkward, don't be awkward. Make conversation like you're talking to a good family friend or someone you're close to.

Life:

1. Woah: Ann and I (post about her coming soon) sat there today talking we will never be any younger than we are at this second in time. Live while you're still young and use every minute to make yourself happy!
2. Regrets: They are inevitable and permanent. There are no retries or do-overs. Accept them and learn from them.

Random:

1. Jude Law: Marry me. If a boy ever screws you over, watch The Holiday, fall in love, pretend he's your boyfriend, and problem solved.
2. Halloween 2011: You will never be forgotten #buttbruise #blueberry #wallet #baseballplayer #franklinstreet
3. I have one word for NC State: basketball

Shout outs

Happy Birthday to Kevin Collins! You're one of my best friends and you've ALWAYS been there for me, even when everyone else walked out. You have the maturity of a 5 year old sometimes and I hate that you live so far away now, but I will always be grateful that I had Foods with you senior year! I love you! Party hard boo boo.

And to my Sissy, who is turning 27 tomorrow! I remember just yesterday when you were turning 18 and I was excited because you could finally order things from the infomercials on TV that say "please order, you must be 18 or older!" I love you so much! I can't wait to see you in a couple weeks. Until you get your gift then, this video will have to do :) Happy Birthday

-Dori (for Max)
